World Thinking Day 2016

This past weekend our Girl Scout Troop celebrated World Thinking Day.

What is World Thinking day??

It has been celebrated since 1926 and is a day of International friendship.  It is a day used to speak out on issues that affect girls and young women and a way to fundraiser for 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.

With our troop we went around the world to learn about scouts and guides from other countries.

Our first stop was in Australia.  The girls learned about Australia and the Girl Guides there.  The made boomerang swaps and at the end of our journey they got to try the famous snack of fairy bread.

After Australia the girls went to Ireland.  They learned about Ireland and the blarney stone.  They also learned about the Girl Guides in Ireland.  The girls made blarney stones and had green punch.

Next, the girls went to Greece.  In Greece they learned how the levels are a little different from the levels of scouts in the US.  They learned a little Greece history and made Olympic torches.  Once back home they sampled some Greece Butter cookies.

The last international stop on our flight was in Japan.  In Japan they learned about the levels of the scouts and about their pledge and how it was similar to our own.  The colored and made Kokeshi paper dolls and paper fans.  Once home they sampled "sushi"

The girls ended their round trip flight back home in the USA and looked at the scouts of the US.  WE also had a photo booth and snacks once home.

Our Sushi from Japan.  How cute is that!!!

Greece butter cookies
The girls had a great day even though this even had a low turn out and learned lots of things. We are looking forward to the next Service Area 20 Event and are in hopes of a great time once again !! We would like to thank The Zone for the donation of the building!!  And for the moms who helped out on this event and donations they gave!!!

Girl Scouts

Besides using and sharing my love of doTERRA Oils, I wanted to share my other passion as of the paste year.

This is a picture of my girl scouts  :)
                                                           (Safety pin training night)

The past year I have become very involved in our scout troop and have become a co-leader with the awesome Sarah!  We have tons and tons of fun and are very very active.  Unfortunately scouts are a dying breed in our area.  Boys and Girls..

Our troop is a multi division group because of this.  Many have come to us because we are so active.  Sarah and I, along with 2 or 3 others, will put on events for the whole service area we are in.  Even those events are poorly attended.  It is our hopes to get scouts up and going in the area again.

My daughter, Bailey, is a daisy and will bridge this spring to brownies.  My step daughter, Hailey, is  first year Junior.  Colton is our honorary cub scout for the moment since he is only 3 but attends alot of events ;)

Our troop has 2 events coming up:

Cookie Booth

National Thinking Day

Sarah and I, along with some Boy Scout representatives, are going to be touring the local camp here in town and prepping to make repairs.   We are in hopes of getting it back up and running and having events local once again like they did years ago.

The one thing we need....  Active, energetic leaders!!!!!  The boys and the girls!!!!!!  We need leaders who will put forth an effort for these kids who are so anxious and want to learn and do things.  If you are interested let me know I can get you the information on how you can help!!!

Cleaning with Essential Oils

So yesterday on my facebook page I posted some graphics for cleaning with essential oils.

Today I am going to go in depth as to how I use essential oils in my laundry.  With all the sensitive skin and allergies in my house we can not use fabric softener or dryer sheets.  We also have to be careful on the laundry detergent.  Not just the kids but I will bust out into hives if we get into the wrong thing.

Not only has switching from store bough to homemade saved our skin it has saved our pocket book.  I can make a batch of laundry detergent for around $12 and it lasts me upwards of 6 months!!!!!!

Here is my Homemade Laundry Detergent recipe:

1 (4 pounds) box of Borax
1 (3 pound) box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Suds
1 (3 pound) container of Oxi Clean  (I use the Oxi Clean Free it has no perfumes or dyes)
1(4 pound) box of Baking Soda

Mix this all together and store in an airtight container.  I have one pic tub I mix in and store then a smaller one I scoop into and set by the dishwasher.  This is safe for HE machines.  All it takes is 1 TBSP per load.  If it is extra dirty you can add 2.  It is a concentrated mix so that is why it takes just a little.

Next up DIY Fabric Softner

This recipe is not specific it all depends on how much you want to mix up.

I typically take 1/2 gallon of white vinegar
1 TBSP approx. of rubbing alcohol
30 drops of your favorite essential oil

The rubbing alcohol helps the oil mix with the vinegar ;)

DIY Scent Crystals

Depending on your container size

Take half baking soda and half epsom salt and mix then add your favorite oils to that mixture.   Add a scoop to the laundry when washed.

No to take this even further you can make or buy wool dryer balls for the dryer.  Not only do these help speed drying time by keeping the laundry fluffed and separated you can also add drops of your favorite oil to these as well ;) I have started to make my own

Any questions feel free to message me or email me :)
